e tour takes in essential sites
such as Red Square, where you'll
recognise the colourful onion-
domed St Basils Cathedral, the
ochre walls and towers of the
Kremlin, and the famous GUM
department store; a walk around
the gleaming white Cathedral of
Christ the Saviour; and to top it
off, a spirited performance of folk
music and dance at a small theatre
in the evening.
After this comprehensive
introduction, exploring Moscow
independently the next day is
surprisingly easy. My cruise buddy
and I join a tour of the illustrious
treasures housed in the Kremlin
Armory then set off for Gorky
Park to check out the modern art
collection in the New Tretyakov
Gallery and do a spot of shopping.
And with the help of our handy
metro map, we make it back to
the ship in time for an emotional
farewell dinner. Vodkas all round!
