t will probably look like something
from a James Bond film. That is,
if you're the type who gets all
excited about liquefied natural
gas (LNG). At 488 metres in length,
Shell's Prelude floating LNG plant will
dwarf the huge vessels used to carry the
energy source to market, with their in-line
spherical tanks holding up to 140,000
cubic metres of LNG. The gas is cooled to
−162 degrees Celsius, which shrinks it to
one-600th of its size and prevents it from
being flammable, ideal for transport.
