From sampling fine French fare to exploring the most moreout to find out more about Noumea. Pacific Dawn made the 1,500th visit recently, marking the occasion with an island-style celebration for her passengers. As she docked, passengers were welcomed with an incredible performance from a Melanesian troupe. From there, the party continued with an afternoon of traditional dancing, ice and fruit carving, a champagne waterfall and even a spectacular fireworks display! We've been visiting the Pacific Islands for more than 80 years so we're getting to know them pretty well. When Sitmar, which was eventually purchased by P&O, docked its ship Fairsea at Noumea in 1962, we began a special relationship with the area and, according to Ann Sherry, "It enabled us to expand our itineraries in the region." P&O Cruises is expected to make a massive 86 calls to the popular port in 2012. Each year thousands of keen Australians cruise to the Pacific Islands to experience the exotic and beautiful region.
