Take to the skies at Kununurra and prepare yourself to be spellbound, as you enjoy a scenic flight to World Heritage-listed Purnululu National Park. Here, you'll marvel at the majesty of Cathedral Gorge, as well as test out the acoustics of this natural amphitheatre. Walk up the dry river bed of Piccaninny Creek for a closer inspection of the extraordinary striped beehive domes. These beautifully distinctive formations were formed by active faults over 350 million years ago, and subsequently shaped by the wind and rain over millions of years. Your local guide will bring the history of the domes to life, describing both their cultural and geological significance. Stay: EXCLUSIVE! Arrive in Kununurra and transfer to your hotel. Today is at your leisure to explore the town. Stay: Kununurra Country Club Resort, Kununurra. Day 2. Purnululu National Park, Echidna Chasm, Mini Palms Gorge. Take a scenic flight to World Heritage-listed Purnululu National Park, and discover some of the Kimberley's most evocative landscapes. Walk into the mysterious Echidna Chasm, that at times narrows to less than two metres while it soars over 200 metres upwards. Later, visit the enchanting Mini Palms Gorge, with time to explore this palm-filled valley surrounded by 150 metre high cliffs. Afterwards, return to our lodge for a three course dinner. Two Night Stay: EXCLUSIVE! Stay in tented ensuite cabins at Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge, Purnululu National Park. Day 3. Bungle Bungle Range. Travel by 4WD to the Bungle Bungle Range. Walk into Cathedral Gorge and test the acoustics of this natural amphitheatre. Then, head to Piccaninny Creek for a view of the Bungle Bungle domes. Your guide will explain the Aboriginal cultural significance of this World Heritage-listed area, and there's also time for a scenic helicopter flight over the famous domes (own expense). Day 4. Scenic Flight. Enjoy breakfast before your return scenic flight to Kununurra. Note: A strict 10 kg maximum luggage weight applies. This tour requires a minimum of two passengers. After breakfast this morning at the Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge, take a hike along a Livistona palm-fringed trail into magical Echidna Chasm. With sunlight streaming down through narrow cracks in the towering rocks, this is an ideal opportunity for some spectacular photography. Then, after a picnic lunch, walk along an ancient river bed to pretty Mini Palms Gorge, where the afternoon sun creates a beautiful ethereal glow.
