Broome, Boab Prison Tree, Tunnel Creek, Windjana Gorge. Depart Broome and begin your Kimberley adventure. At Derby, visit the Boab Prison Tree, believed to be more than 1,500 years old. Journey on the Gibb River Road, a remote Outback highway that accesses some of the Kimberley's best scenery. At Windjana Gorge, where sheer cliffs tower above white sands, see the ancient marine fossils embedded in the gorge walls. You may also see freshwater crocodiles lazing on the banks of the Lennard River, which runs through the gorge. Travel to remarkable Tunnel Creek, a 750 metre-long natural tunnel carved through the Napier Range. With torch in hand, wade through the cool waters to view the wonderful oasis that awaits on the other side. Then continue to the township of Fitzroy Crossing. Stay: Fitzroy River Lodge, Fitzroy Crossing. LD Day 2. Fitzroy Crossing, Purnululu National Park. Depart Fitzroy Crossing and head for one of Australia's most fascinating nature reserves – Purnululu National Park, home to the black and orange striped domes of the Bungle Bungle Range. Two Night Stay: EXCLUSIVE! Stay in tented ensuite cabins at Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge, Purnululu National Park. Day 3. Cathedral Gorge, Piccaninny Creek. Hike into Piccaninny Creek, walking along this ancient river bed flanked by impressive rock escarpments, through to the spectacular Cathedral Gorge. Walk among the beehive domes, as your guide brings the natural history of the range to life. Learn of bushtucker, bush medicine and the area's significance to local Aborigines. There's also time for an optional helicopter flight (own expense). Enjoy drinks and watch the evocative landscape change colours as the sun sets over the iconic beehives of the Bungle Bungle range. 68 Day 4. Echidna Chasm, China Wall, Halls Creek. Guests taking optional extensions depart after breakfast. Take one of Australia's most captivating hikes as you discover Echidna Chasm, a spectacular cleft in the rock massif that, in places, rises up over 200 metres as it narrows to less than two metres. Afterwards, travel the Great Northern Highway to the historic gold mining town of Halls Creek. See China Wall, a vein of quartz that rises out of the land in a wall-like formation. Stay: Best Western Halls Creek Motel. Day 5. Halls Creek, Geikie Gorge, Broome. Enjoy the morning exploring peculiar Geikie Gorge, where annual flooding has created a bleached effect on the limestone walls.
