Depart Broome, Geikie Gorge Cruise. We begin our amazing adventure across the rugged wilderness frontier of the Kimberley and into the Top End. Today we bid the azure waters of Broome goodbye and travel inland to historic Fitzroy Crossing, where early settlers forded the mighty Fitzroy River. In times of flood, this waterway becomes one of the world's longest rivers. We'll spend the afternoon on a spectacular cruise along Geikie Gorge, discovering the stunning waterway hemmed by limestone walls bleached by thousands of years of annual flooding. Stay: Fitzroy River Lodge, Fitzroy Crossing. LD Day 2. Windjana Gorge. Today, we journey through this majestic countryside and arrive at Windjana Gorge, where sheer cliffs tower above white sands. At the base of the ancient gorge, deep freshwater pools surrounded by native fig, cajeput and leichhardt trees attract flocks of noisy corellas and fruit bats. Look out for the fresh water crocodiles that laze on the banks of the Lennard River, which runs through the gorge. Then begin the journey on the famous outback highway, the Gibb River Road, continuing on to our exclusive lodge immersed in the bush. Stay: EXCLUSIVE! Bell Gorge Wilderness Lodge, with private ensuites, Gibb River Road. BLD Day 3. Galvans Gorge. Travel through Kimberley cattle country, discovering secluded gorges. At Galvans Gorge, a short walk leads to a picturesque waterhole. View the amazing rock art on the gorge walls, and watch for birdlife. Perhaps enjoy a dip, before we continue on the Gibb River Road. Ford the Pentecost and Durack rivers, where saltwater crocodiles inhabit the deceptively calm waters, before entering the magnificent setting of El Questro Wilderness Park. Two Night Stay: Tented cabins with private facilities at Emma Gorge Resort, El Questro. BLD 62 Day 4. Zebedee Springs, Chamberlain Gorge Cruise, Emma Gorge. Today you have the whole day to discover the wonders of El Questro Wilderness Park. This reserve extends for nearly one million acres and boasts four major river systems, from fresh water springs to the salt-water estuaries in the northern part of the property. Here you'll find an abundance of animals, fish and bird life congregating near rivers and waterholes. This morning, we'll walk to the beautiful thermal pools of Zebedee Springs. Then, with a local ranger, cruise Chamberlain Gorge, a fresh waterway fringed by tropical vegetation and rugged escarpments, before hiking into Emma Gorge where you can indulge in a refreshing swim. After, return to Emma Gorge Resort, where you can absorb the serene surrounds before dinner. BLD Day 5. World Heritage Purnululu National Park, Echidna Chasm. Farewell El Questro and journey to the World Heritage-listed Purnululu National Park, a spectacular wilderness region. Travel the Spring Creek Track into the Bungle Bungle Range. Discover the magic of Purnululu for yourself as you hike into Echidna Chasm, a spectacular cleft in the rock massif. Narrowing to one metre while shooting skywards up to 200 metres, this offers a truly spellbinding sight. Two Night Stay: EXCLUSIVE! Stay in tented cabins with private ensuites at Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge, Purnululu National Park. Day 6. Cathedral Gorge, Piccaninny Creek. Journey to Piccaninny Creek and Cathedral Gorge.
