On a city tour today, see the Royal Palace, the Parliament Buildings, the Opera House and Heroes Square. The remainder of the day is at leisure. BLD Day 3. Budapest, Keszthely. Transfer to Budapest Nyugati Station and board your train. Settle in to your cabin as you head to Keszthely. Here, you have the option to tour the 100-room Festetics Palace, which dates back to 1745. Within the palace is the Helikon Library, containing more than 100,000 volumes and beautifully carved furniture. You will then embark on a relaxing cruise on the calm waters of Lake Balaton. Six Night Stay: Golden Eagle Danube Express. Day 4. Ljubljana. Today visit Predjama Castle, perched on a cliff high above the beautiful Inner Carniola region. Then, continue to Postojna Cave to tour the delicate network of stalactites, stalagmites and caverns. Later, travel to Ljubljana for an afternoon tour which includes visits to Preseren Square, Three Bridges and Dragon Bridge. In Plovdiv, explore the Roman Forum and Amphitheatre and the Old Town. Enjoy lunch on the train, then arrive in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Reflecting more than 2,000 years of history, including Greek, Roman, Ottoman and Soviet occupation, enjoy a city tour where you will visit sections of the Roman Wall, the church of St George, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the Turkish Bashi Mosque. BLD Day 8. Thessaloniki. Arrive into the city of Thessaloniki, situated around an arc of coastline at the top of the Thermaic Gulf of the Aegean. Soak up the atmosphere of this city by heading to Aristotelous Square and the 15th century White Tower. You'll also visit a museum dedicated to the city's history. BLD Day 9. Athens. Early this afternoon, arrive in Athens and disembark for the final time. Transfer to your hotel, located in the heart of the city. Two Night Stay: Athens, Hotel Grande Bretagne BLD Day 10. Athens. This morning enjoy a city tour, including a visit to the stunning Acropolis and its museum. Following an al fresco lunch at a local taverna, travel to Cape Sounion, where you'll see the marble pillars of the Temple of Poseidon.
