Here, you will enjoy dinner in a magical setting overlooking the temples. Stay: Agrigento, Hotel Villa Athena. BLD Day 4. Agrigento, Piazza Armerina, Ragusa. During a guided tour of the Valley of the Temples, you will see some of the better maintained Greek Temples dating back to the 5th century BC. From Agrigento, head into the centre of Sicily and stop in Piazza Armerina to visit Villa del Casale. According to legend, the villa was built in the 4th century by a wealthy importer of wild beasts from Africa. The villa also boasts some of the most beautiful mosaics of the late Roman period. Arrive in Ragusa, where you will check into your hotel, a former 12th-century estate. Here you will enjoy a guided tour of this intriguing historic property, followed by a superb wine tasting in their famous cellar before dinner. Stay: Ragusa, Eremo della Giubiliana. BD Day 5. Ragusa, Syracuse, Taormina. This morning, journey to Modica before arriving in Noto, a delightful town that houses the loveliest examples of Baroque Architecture in Sicily. Afterwards, arrive in Syracuse, founded by Greek political exiles around the 5th Century BC, which houses the magnificent Archaeological Park Neapolis. You will also enjoy a visit to the island of Ortigia, the Arethusa Spring and the Temple of Apollo before continuing to Taormina. This evening, perhaps wander up to the top of a rocky spur, or relax and absorb the sublime sea vistas from your hotel room's private balcony. Two Night Stay: Taormina, Hotel Monte Tauro. B Day 6. Taormina, Mount Etna. Head to the scenic slopes of Mount Etna, one of the prominent active volcanoes existing in the world. Take the Funivia dell'Etna (Cableway of Etna) to the summits crater to enjoy the beautiful volcanic landscape. A local Etna guide will guide you around, followed by spending time with a professional Volcanologist who will share their expertise before enjoying lunch. In the afternoon, return to Taormina to join a local guide for a walk through town to visit its well-preserved Greek Theatre that is still utilised for performances today. Here, you will also admire the façades of the lovely buildings lining the Corso. In the evening, say goodbye to new-found friends during a Farewell Dinner at a local restaurant. BLD Day 7. Taormina, Depart Catania. Today your Sicilian journey draws to a conclusion. After breakfast, be transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
