Arrive before midday and be transferred to your hotel in Rome. Italy's vibrant capital, Rome is a sprawling, cosmopolitan city with nearly 3,000 years of globally influential art, architecture and culture. Enjoy an afternoon sightseeing tour including ancient ruins such as the Colosseum and Roman Forum. Tonight enjoy a Welcome Dinner. Two Night Stay: Rome, Hotel Bernini Bristol. D Day 2. Rome. A guide will take you to the Vatican, which house masterpieces such as Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel frescoes. After, visit some of Rome's iconic sites. B Day 3. Rome, Pompeii, Sorrento. Travel to the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, a vast archaeological site in southern Italy's Campania region. Once a thriving Roman city, Pompeii was buried in meters of ash and pumice after the catastrophic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 C.E. Afterwards, continue to Sorrento, a coastal town facing the Bay of Naples on the Sorrentine Peninsula. This evening, visit a mozzarella farm for a guided tour and a delicious dinner. Isle of Capri, Sorrento. Cruise to Isle of Capri and board a funicular train to the hilltop for stunning views. Afterwards, board a cruise to explore the colours of the Blue Grotto (subject to weather), a dark cavern where the sea glows electric blue, the result of sunlight passing through an underwater cave. Later, return to Sorrento and choose a sightseeing activity. B Day 5. Sorrento, Assisi, Perugia. Visit the Basilica of St Francis of Assisi, the mother church of the Roman Catholic Order of Friars Minor, then journey on to Perugia. Stay: Perugia, Hotel Brufani Palace. BD Day 6. Perugia, San Gimignano, Florence. Explore the 13th-century walled town of San Gimignano. Afterwards, enjoy a Tuscan light lunch, of locally made olive oils, delicious antipasti and regional wines.
