Stay: Paris, Hotel du Collectionneur Arc de Triomphe. Day 2. Paris, Amiens. Travel to the Forest of Compiègne. It was here that after four long years, World War I was put to an end in a railway carriage. After visiting the Armistice Clearing Museum, travel to Péronne, where the 1916, first 1918 and second 1918 Battles of the Somme took place during the First World War. Explore the Museum of the Great War. Later, visit the Australian Memorial at Mont Saint-Quentin which commemorates the Allied counter- offensive of 1918 – considered among the greatest military achievements of the war. Stop at the historic Adelaide Cemetery to see the original resting place of the Unknown Soldier, which represents all Australians who have been killed in war.
