Off the coast of the Kimberley, Bigge Island is filled with fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities. The island is well-known for its Indigenous rock art. In caves throughout the island, see examples of first contact art and Wandjina figures. BLD Day 22. Prince Frederick Harbour, Hunter River, Naturalist Island. Arrive at Prince Frederick Harbour, with its extreme tide system and pristine ecosystem, there is an incredible range of wildlife to discover with help from your Expedition Team, including saltwater crocodiles, mudskippers and birds. Explore the Hunter River and visit Naturalist Island where an optional helicopter flight to Mitchell Falls departs (own expense). BLD Day 23. Careening Bay, Prince Regent Reserve, St George's Basin. Visit Careening Bay, the home of the Mermaid boab tree, and where Phillip Parker King was forced to beach his damaged ship HMC Mermaid in 1820. You'll explore Prince Regent Nature Reserve, a protected area, and cruise St George's Basin. BLD Day 24. Montgomery Reef, Doubtful Bay, Raft Point. Embark on an unforgettable adventure today as the magnificent Montgomery Reef 'rises' out of the ocean as the tidal waters cascade down into the surrounding channels. Board your Zodiac to experience this natural phenomenon up close and discover the reef's diverse marine life. Cruise through Doubtful Bay and land at Raft Point to visit an ancient Wandjina rock art site with a local guide. BLD Day 25. Talbot Bay, Horizontal Falls. Embark on an unforgettable adventure today as the magnificent Montgomery Reef 'rises' out of the ocean as the tidal waters cascade down into the surrounding channels. Board your Zodiac to experience this natural phenomenon up close and discover the reef's diverse marine life. Cruise through Doubtful Bay and land at Raft Point to visit an ancient Wandjina rock art site with a local guide. BLD Board a Zodiac and explore King George River with your Expedition Leader Museum which features an impressive display about the devastating Cyclone Tracy which levelled Darwin on Christmas Day in 1974. Enjoy a day in port to do as you please and get a feel for life in the Top End. BD Day 18. At sea. Enjoy a lecture detailing the natural and cultural highlights of the Kimberley you are about to encounter from one of your Expedition Team members. Perhaps relax in the Panorama Lounge as you spend the day cruising towards the Kimberley Coast. BLD Day 19. King George River and Falls. Wake up in Koolama Bay, named after a merchant ship bombed by the Japanese in World War II. Arriving at King George River, the highlight is sure to be King George Falls. The highest single drop falls in Western Australia, it plunges approximately 80 metres over a magnificent sandstone cliff. BLD Day 20. Vansittart Bay, Jar Island. With your Expedition Team, walk across salt flats to view the wreckage of a US Air Force DC3 which crash landed on the beach during World War II. Later, visit Jar Island and discover the island's rock art gallery.
