Nine Night Stay: MS Hebridean Sky. D Day 2. Grundarfjordur. Today explore the western frontier of Iceland with a choice of tours. Delve into the rich history of Icelandic literature as you explore lava trails and learn of the sagas set in this epic landscape. From the lava field continue to Helgafell Mountain, 'The Holy Mountain' and onwards to Stykkishólmur to see the region's foremost folk museum. Alternatively a tour of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula unveils many highlights such as Snæfellsjökull, the glacier made famous by Jules Verne's novel 'Journey to the Centre of the Earth'. BLD Day 3. Westfjords. Explore the Westfjords of Isafjordur and Jokulfjordur by Zodiac and make landfall on Vigur, an island home to just five residents who share this paradise with thousands of puffins, eider ducks and Arctic terns. Visit Iceland's only surviving windmill dating from the 19th century. Explore the oldest villages in Westfjords, Thingeyri and Hrafnseyri. See the thunderous Dynjandi, the highest waterfall in the Westfjords and one of the most spectacular sights in Iceland. Back aboard sail past the enormous Hornbjarg Cliffs. Rising over 500 metres from the ocean the cliffs are home to thousands of puffins. BLD Day 4. Siglufjordur, Akureyri. Stroll through the picturesque town of Siglufjordur and visit the Herring Era Museum and learn of the booming economy of the 1900s centred around the fishing industry. Sail to Akureyri where your ship will dock for the evening giving you a chance to have some free time ashore. BLD Day 5. Akureyri, Námaskard, Godafoss. Start today with a private visit to the Mývatn Nature Baths, this popular hot spring will be opened exclusively for APT guests. Lake Mývatn, speckled with impressive natural rock formations and hot springs, is also a significant ecosystem and is the largest migratory bird sanctuary in Europe. Later explore the lava fields and boiling mud pools at Námaskard and steam vents of Lake Mývatn's craters. Next visit the thunderous 'Waterfall of the Gods', Godafoss, one of Iceland's most spectacular waterfalls.
