38 Day 1. Arrive Cape Town (South Africa) On arrival at Cape Town airport, be met by a Travelmarvel representative and transferred to your hotel. A city alive with creativity, colour, sounds and tastes, be ready to fall in love with Cape Town's natural beauty, charming locals and incredible spirit. This is a city where the unexpected is always just around the corner and from which the beautiful province of the Western Cape lies ready to be explored. This evening, meet fellow travellers and your Tour Director at a Welcome Reception. Three Nights: Cape Town, Southern Sun Waterfront Hotel. Day 2. Cape Town Today's tour of Cape Town begins with a ride by cableway to the top of beautiful Table Mountain. Admire the views, then return to the city to visit its much-loved attractions. With an afternoon at leisure, you may like to set out on one of our select experiences. Perhaps take a ferry ride to Robben Island to see where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned; enjoy the floral displays at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden; pick up souvenirs on a Cape Town shopping tour; or learn about local history on an African Heritage Tour (see page 51 for further details). During your free evening, perhaps take a stroll along the V&A Waterfront. B Day 3. Cape Town, Cape Peninsula Discover the breathtaking Cape Peninsula during a full-day tour. This scenic journey takes you along Chapman's Peak Drive to Cape Point, where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet. The most south-westerly tip of Africa, Cape Point is covered in endemic fynbos and home to bays, beaches and rolling green hills and valleys. Stop for a delicious seafood lunch then watch the penguins totter along the shoreline at Boulders Beach. Continue to historic Simon's Town for some time to wander at your leisure. Named after Simon Van Der Stel, an early governor of the Dutch settlement, who arrived in the Cape in 1679, Simon's Town is South Africa's third oldest settlement.
