34 Day 1. Arrive Cape Town (South Africa) On arrival, be met and transferred to your hotel. Tonight, meet your fellow travellers and Tour Director at a Welcome Reception. Cape Town A city alive with creativity, colour and natural beauty, be ready to fall in love with Cape Town today as you ride a cableway to the summit of Table Mountain before touring the city. During a free afternoon perhaps take a ferry to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned; explore Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden; join an African Heritage Tour; or enjoy a guided shopping trip (see page 51 for details). B Day 3. Cape Town, Cape Peninsula Discover the breathtaking Cape Peninsula during a full-day tour. Journey along Chapman's Peak. Drive to Cape Point and enjoy a seafood lunch before watching the penguins at Boulders Beach. Later, explore historic Simon's Town. Tonight, try African drumming before a Welcome Dinner of Cape Malay cuisine. BLD Day 4. Cape Town, Garden Route, Oudtshoorn Set off along the Garden Route through the wetlands and forests that dot the coastline. Stop to discover the Cango Caves, then continue to Oudtshoorn for a dinner of delicious regional produce including ostrich. Stay: Oudtshoorn, Queen's Hotel. BD Day 5. Oudtshoorn, Knysna Come face-to-face with Africa's enormous flightless birds as you tour an ostrich farm and enjoy the chance to feed an ostrich by hand. After, follow the Garden Route to Knysna, a charming coastal town on the shores of a lagoon. Here, enjoy the afternoon at leisure. Two Nights: Knysna, Protea Hotel Knysna Quays. B Day 6. Knysna, Featherbed Nature Reserve Visit Featherbed Nature Reserve, a pristine piece of paradise on the Western Head of Knysna, accessible only by ferry. Cross the lagoon and join a park guide for a 4WD journey to the top of Western Head. Later, you may like to join an optional bushwalk that takes you into ancient sea caves. B Day 7. Knysna, Port Elizabeth Depart Knysna and continue along the Garden Route. Make a stop to visit Monkeyland Primate Reserve, the world's first free- roaming multi-species primate sanctuary. Afterwards, continue along the Storms River Mouth and through Tsitsikamma Forest on the way to Port Elizabeth. Check in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.
