Cape Town A city alive with creativity, colour, sounds and tastes, be ready to fall in love with Cape Town. The magnetism of the city's icon, Table Mountain, takes hold as you ride the cableway up to its summit. Then, discover the intricacies of the city on a guided tour. With a free afternoon, you might like to choose one of our select experiences. Take a ferry to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned; explore Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden; join an African Heritage Tour; or join a shopping trip to Cape Town's markets (see page 51 for details). We've left this evening free so you can check out what's on the menu along the V&A Waterfront. BD Day 3. Cape Town, Cape Peninsula Discover the breathtaking Cape Peninsula during a full-day tour. This scenic journey takes you along Chapman's Peak Drive to Cape Point. The most south- westerly tip of Africa, Cape Point is covered in endemic fynbos and home to bays, beaches and rolling green hills. Enjoy a seafood lunch before watching the penguins at Boulders Beach. Then, pause in historic Simon's Town. Tonight, try your hand at African drumming before a Welcome Dinner of Cape Malay cuisine. BLD Day 4. Cape Town, Garden Route, Oudtshoorn As the morning sun shines over beautiful Cape Town, you'll set off along the Garden Route through the wetlands and forests that dot the coastline. Stop to discover the subterranean formations of the Cango Caves, then continue to the town of Oudtshoorn for a dinner of delicious regional produce including ostrich. Stay: Oudtshoorn, Queen's Hotel. BD Day 5. Oudtshoorn, Knysna Tour an ostrich farm and come face-to-face with Africa's enormous flightless birds as you enjoy the chance to feed an ostrich by hand. Then, follow the Garden Route to the charming coastal town of Knysna, where you will enjoy a free afternoon. Two Nights: Knysna, Protea Hotel Knysna Quays. B Day 6. Knysna, Featherbed Nature Reserve Visit Featherbed Nature Reserve, a pristine piece of paradise on the Western Head of Knysna, accessible only by ferry. Cross the lagoon and join a park guide for a 4WD journey to the top of Western Head. Take some time to enjoy the stunning view and later, perhaps join an optional bushwalk into ancient sea caves.
