Kyoto, Nara Visit Nara today, another former capital, just a short train ride away from Kyoto. Return to Kyoto this afternoon where you will have free time at leisure before a traditional evening meal at a local restaurant. BD Day 23. Osaka Travel by Bullet Train to the futuristic city of Osaka, and enjoy a guided tour which includes a visit to the Floating Garden Observatory in the iconic Umeda Sky building. Mount Fuji, Matsumoto This morning, travel by coach to Mount Fuji. Disembark at the Mount Fuji Visitor Centre to learn more about the snow-capped peak. Later, enjoy a visit to Matsumoto Castle. Stay: Matsumoto, Hotel Buena Vista, or similar. B Day 17. Matsumoto, Takayama Travel by coach to Takayama, pausing en-route at the Folk Village, an open air museum of rustic farm dwellings. Continue to Takayama to spend the night. Stay: Takayama, Oan Hotel, or similar. B Day 18. Takayama, Hiroshima After a guided tour of Takayama, enjoy a journey on the Hida Train to Nagoya. Then, continue onwards by Bullet Train to Hiroshima. After settling in, you are free to begin your explorations of this once devastated city. Two Nights: Sheraton Hiroshima, or similar. B Day 19. Miyajima Island, Hiroshima Today, travel by tram and boat to idyllic Miyajima Island. Here, enjoy a walking tour, which includes a visit to the beautiful Itsukushima Shrine. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure in Hiroshima. B Day 20. Hiroshima, Kyoto Visit the World Peace Memorial Park and the A-Bomb Dome Museum. Hear a talk from a Hiroshima survivor.
