Japan –
land of the
rising sun
Where ancient tradition
meets the cutting edge
From geisha to Mount Fuji, and the buzz
of futuristic cities, few countries present
contrasts like Japan.
THOUSANDS OF YEARS OF CULTURE
Arguably Japan's most intriguing elements to Western
visitors are its traditions and customs. So strong is the
cultural identity of the nation and its people, that a
holiday here immediately astounds with its feeling of
intriguing "otherness" that is captivating to delve into.
TOKYO
Japan's capital city is an experience unto itself and
you could easily spend your whole time here, getting
lost amid the neon-lit skyscrapers, quirky restaurants,
ancient temples and diverse districts. This is a
metropolis that is truly incomparable.
KYOTO
If Tokyo is at the forefront of modern technology,
Kyoto holds on to the old ways of Japan. Its delicate
gardens and monuments of religious architecture are
plentiful, and the iconic geisha of Gion are one of the
city's most famed cultural sights. To catch a glimpse
of one is a real highlight.
OSAKA
Renowned as the 'City of Food', Osaka represents an
incredible gourmet experience with everything from
elegant cuisine to hearty street food on offer. The
city's highlights aren't just confined to your plate
though, with amazing sights to behold, like the
Floating Garden Observatory.
MOUNT FUJI
World-famous as a symbol of Japan, majestic Mount
Fuji is instantly recognisable and often depicted in
paintings and photographs. The country's highest
mountain is extremely popular to climb and many
hikers time their trek to the summit to watch the
sunrise, known as "Goraiko".
