Following this, explore the Forbidden City, a labyrinthine complex of palaces from where the Imperial dynasties of 24 Emperors were once ruled. BL Day 3. Beijing, The Great Wall of China Today visit one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, the magnificent Great Wall. After a thrilling ascent by cable car, enjoy the chance to walk along this architectural masterpiece, marvelling at the captivating mountain scenery and sweeping valleys below. Back in Beijing, see the Bird's Nest and Water Cube, both built for the 2008 Olympic Games. Tonight sample Beijing's signature dish, Peking duck. BLD Day 4. Xi'an This morning take the high-speed rail service to Xi'an, the former imperial capital. Watch the countryside zoom past your window on a journey of around 1,200 kilometres that takes under six hours. Upon arrival check in to your hotel, then enjoy free time to explore this remarkable city. Two Nights: Xi'an, Grand Mecure Hotel. B Day 5. Xi'an, The Terracotta Warriors Today you will come face to face with the incredible Terracotta Warriors. Built as a replica of the first Emperor of China's army, the life-sized statues were designed to protect him in death. Each figure has individual features and is arranged according to rank. The sheer scale of the site makes it difficult to believe they were only discovered in the 1970s. Later, return to Xi'an for a tour of its attractions such as the city walls and Grand Mosque. BLD Day 6. Sleeper Train to Tibet Embark on an epic journey on the highest railway on earth, the heritage Sleeper Train to the Himalayan Kingdom of Tibet. Pass through a jumble of rice paddies snaking up the hillsides, and climbing through low-lying clouds. This pioneering railway line is a testament to the ingenuity of the engineers who built it and a spectacular feat of modern construction.
