Australia's tropical north, it's a treasury of exotic rare fruits; 35 sparkling beaches and endless attractions along its resplendent Gold Coast; and waters filled with priceless marine life in the Great Barrier Reef, the largest on the planet and the only living thing visible from space. Nearby, fellow World Heritage Site Daintree Rainforest, the oldest rainforest in existence, brings the wonder up toward those skies with 135-million-year-old treetops; an aerial walkway puts you in their midst. On the Great Sunshine Way, it's the skyscrapers that tower in Brisbane, home to the iconic Ferris wheel, Story Bridge Climb, and Mt. Coot-tha Lookout. For even more culture, head to Cairns, a destination in its own right, with beautiful beaches, ample nightlife, and the Atherton Tableland—known for its wild Platypus Park residents—and to Fraser Island, another World Heritage-listed attraction. Here, men once played didgeridoos to migrating whales, and Champagne Pools still bubble festively. After all, this Sunshine State is one worth celebrating. 20 1 2 3 4 11 12 23 22 21 24 19 10 18 17 16 15 14 13 31 28 9 29 30 8 7 6 5 27 26 25
