82 24 Days | Seven Countries Day 1. Arrive Paris, Amiens, Somme Battlefields Arrive in Paris this morning to begin your journey to the Somme Battlefields. Here, you will spend two days visiting the museums and memorials along the Remembrance Trail. Begin at the Australian memorial at Pozières Mill, located high atop a ridge. Here, one of the greatest losses of Australian life in wartime history occurred during the Battle of Pozières. Across the countryside you will glimpse Pozières British Cemetery, where 14,000 fallen soldiers from the United Kingdom with no known grave are commemorated. Continue to the Thiepval Memorial and Visitor Centre and the Lochnagar Mine Crater. Reflect on the day's poignant journey and enjoy a sumptuous Welcome Dinner back in Amiens tonight. Two Nights: Mercure Amiens Cathedrale. D Day 2. Amiens, Somme Battlefields Pay your respects at the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, which bears the names of some 11,000 Australians missing in action in France. Then visit the Franco- Australian Museum, where the exhibits depict Australia's involvement on the Western Front. Continue to the memorial dedicated to the Australians involved in the Battle of Hamel. B Day 3. Amiens, Honfleur, Saint-Malo Drive through Normandy's famous green landscapes; a patchwork of pastures and apple orchards divided by hedges. Follow the course of the Seine River towards Honfleur. Enjoy some free time before continuing along Brittany's rugged coast to the beautiful port town of Saint-Malo. Two Nights: Hôtel Oceania Saint-Malo. BD Day 4. Saint-Malo Embark on a morning tour of Saint- Malo, beginning with a walk along the 12th century ramparts. On one side lies a rocky coastline, battered headlands and sweeping beaches marked with numerous forts; on the other, the picturesque cobbled streets of the Old Town, alive with cafes and its famous seafood restaurants. After your tour, enjoy a day at leisure. B Day 5. Saint-Malo, Angers, Tours Trace a path inland through the Loire Valley wine region and stop in Angers, before arriving in Tours. Described as a 'mini Paris', Tours does indeed conjure an atmosphere similar to the capital, with leafy, cafe-lined boulevards and the Loire River winding through its centre. Here, discover the history of the region's unique troglodyte caves with dinner at an atmospheric restaurant made of tufa stone. Two Nights: Tours, Hotel Oceania L'Univers.
