42 Continue to Nuremberg, the site of Hitler's now infamous rallies. Held annually from 1927 to 1938, the rallies played a pivotal role for the Nazis during World War II. You'll learn all about the city during a fascinating World War II tour that includes such sites as the Zeppelin Field and the Palace of Justice. Finish your day back on board with a drink and an exquisite dinner prepared by your expert chef. BLD Day 12. Bamberg One of the few German cities that wasn't destroyed during World War II, World Heritage-listed Bamberg beckons this morning. You'll be treated to a guided tour, during which the history will come to life as you gaze upon such sights as the Old Town Hall and the Bamberg Cathedral. With free time afterwards, perhaps pay a visit to one of the historic local taverns, the best place to get a taste for Bavarian culture. Here, you're sure to find friendly locals eating pretzels and swapping tall tales over steins of local beer. Later on, your ship will reach the Main- Danube Canal. BLD Day 13. Würzburg Verdant hills and rich vineyards sit on the fringe of Würzburg, while the Main River is a prominent feature of this stunning city. The architectural beauty that further defines Würzburg is on show as you admire the Würzburg Residence, a palace with a grand staircase, chapel and salon. Here, a walk through Würzburg Court Garden is a delight, with its terraced gardens and water basin encircled by yew trees. BLD Day 14. Miltenberg Be greeted by the friendly locals of Miltenberg and learn about their culture as you are welcomed into their homes for coffee and cake. Explore this beautifully evocative town, perfectly positioned on the confluence of the Tauber and Main rivers. Return to your ship and enjoy time at leisure, taking advantage of the onboard facilities as you travel along the Main River. As the sun sets, watch the glittering lights of medieval towns glide past as you cruise onwards through the night. BLD Day 15. Rüdesheim, Rhine Gorge Your ship docks in Rüdesheim this morning, a perfect example of a Rhine Gorge wine town. Here, the Winzerexpress mini-train will take you through town to Siegfried's Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum, which houses the most beautiful collection of automated musical instruments in Germany. Continue cruising to a true highlight of the holiday – the awe-inspiring spectacular wonder of the Rhine Gorge, considered by locals to be the most beautiful section of the Rhine River. Watch in delight as steep slopes covered in vineyards, dotted with ancient castles drift past. Enjoy dinner on board, then perhaps retreat to the lounge as your journey continues long into the night. BLD Day 16. Cologne, Brühl As you cruise into the riverside city of Cologne, head to the Sun Deck and watch as the magnificent twin spires of its famous cathedral, the Kölner Dom, appear on the horizon. Disembark your ship and take a short drive to the town of Brühl. Here, pay a visit to World Heritage-listed Augustusburg Castle and Falkenlust hunting lodge, the lavish rococo-style residences of archbishop-elector Clemens August. On a tour of the 18th-century castle, learn enthralling stories of its infamous former resident and marvel at the ornate staircase, with marble and stucco work by Balthasar Neumann. Afterwards, enjoy a guided walk through the perfectly landscaped parks and flowering gardens between the castle and the lodge, where the archbishop would come to practise his favourite sport, falconry. Later this afternoon, return to Cologne and enjoy some time to drift through this enchanting city at leisure and perhaps inspect the facade of the Cologne Cathedral up close. BLD Day 17. Amsterdam Today, cruise to the eclectic city of Amsterdam. Clustered by historic houses and studded with low bridges, Amsterdam's network of 17th-century canals lends the city its nickname – The Venice of the North. Upon arrival, board a glass-top boat and glide past the city's impressive waterside facades, watching the bicycle- loving locals ride along with carefree abandon as you drift through the waterways. Back on land, enjoy some free time to explore the wondrous architecture, curious shops and intricate churches of the city before reboarding your ship.
