Off the coast of the Kimberley, approximately 6 kilometres from the mainland, Bigge Island is filled with fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities and is well known for its Indigenous Australian rock art, created by the Wunambal people. In caves throughout the island, you will be able to see paintings including fascinating examples of first contact art and Wandjina figures. BLD Day 8. Vansittart Bay, Jar Island. After breakfast this morning, set off with your Expedition Team, walk across salt flats to view the wreckage of a US Air Force DC3 which crash landed on the beach during World War II. Later, visit Jar Island and discover the island's outstanding rock art gallery. During your exploration here, you will see examples of the Kimberley's mysterious Bradshaw (Gwion Gwion) paintings, dating back some 20,000 years. BLD Day 9. Koolama Bay, King George River and Falls. Wake up in Koolama Bay, named after a merchant ship bombed by the Japanese in World War II. Arriving at King George River, the highlight is sure to be King George Falls. The highest single drop falls in Western Australia, it plunges approximately 80 metres over a magnificent sandstone cliff. BLD Day 10. At sea. Today you have the opportunity to become familiar with your luxury ship with a full day at sea. Relax and enjoy the many public areas available to you, or simply sit back and enjoy the incredible views as they pass by. BLD Day 11. Disembark Cruise, Depart Darwin. Disembark your ship after breakfast, and be transferred to either Darwin Airport for your flight home, or to your Darwin hotel.
