Frequently Asked Questions
Put your faith in the Kimberley experts. We have the details covered.
When should I travel?
May through to September are the best
months to travel to the Kimberley. When
cruising, the start of the season is ideal for
waterfalls, while late in the season in August
and September, whales are likely to be
spotted. In April/May as well as September/
October, the weather is fine and hot
(average maximum 33°C) with very
pleasant nights. From June to August, the
days are fine and warm (average maximum
29°C) with cold nights. Inland conditions at
night can drop down to 0°C. Rainfall is rare
but can cause disruptions to itinerary in
April and May. We recommend our guests
pack clothing for the evenings that can
be layered.
What's the main difference
between the three ships?
While offering slightly different cruising
experiences, all three expedition ships
boast the highest level of enjoyment.
The APT owned MS Caledonian Sky offers
the most in-depth journey of the Kimberley
Coast and perfectly combines this
exploration with the ultimate in onboard
lifestyle. For a more refined cruise, the
luxury French owned vessel L'Austral offers
the chance to discover the highlights of
the Kimberley while enjoying a cruising
experience with a new level of style and
elegance. If you're seeking a more
intimate cruise, the newly refurbished
Coral Discoverer boasts a boutique size
from which to explore the coast.
Do I need travel insurance?
Travel insurance is mandatory. Purchase
comprehensive cover for any unforeseen
circumstances that may arise on tour or
before leaving home (this includes cover
for any cancellation penalties, medical
and curtailment expenses, remote
evacuation, loss of luggage, etc.).
What's a standard meal?
There's nothing standard about our meals.
On your cruise, enjoy a buffet breakfast with
hot and cold options; take in a delicious
light lunch; then savour a delectable
three-course dinner. Meals are included as
indicated on your itinerary. You must advise
of any special dietary requirements, at the
time of booking.
