Budapest. Today, you'll arrive in the magnificent Hungarian capital of Budapest. Special Stay – step aboard your premium river ship, the MS Johann Strauss, and meet your Travelmarvel Cruise Director and fellow passengers before a Taste of Hungary – on board this evening. Enjoy a night of delicious Hungarian cuisine and an entertaining gypsy violin performance. Stay (14 Nights): MS Johann Strauss. Day 2. Budapest. Explore Budapest's finest sights, including Matthias Church, Heroes' Sqaure, Buda Castle and the city's ornate Houses of Parliament, through the expert eyes of your local guide. Awed by its illustrious history and magnificent architecture, you'll soon come to understand why Budapest enjoys its reputation as 'The Paris of Central Europe'. Day 5. Dürnstein, Melk. Start today with a guided walk of the charming town of Dürnstein, then later, visit a local vintner for a wine tasting. Reboard your ship and cruise towards Melk, where a local guide will show you Melk Abbey, one of the world's most famous monastic sites, founded in 1089. Day 6. Linz, Passau. D On arrival in Linz, you may opt to take a drive to Mozart's home town, Salzburg, for a 'Sound of Music' tour or perhaps travel to the Czech town of Ceský Krumlov (see page 49 for details). Later today, reboard and continue cruising along the Main-Danube Canal, crossing Europe's Continental Divide. Day 9. Bamberg. One of the few German cities that was not destroyed by bombs during World War II, World Heritage-listed Bamberg beckons this morning.
