On arrival in Linz, you may opt to take a drive to Mozart's home town, Salzburg, for a tour of the 'Sound of Music' sights, or you can choose to visit the enchanting Czech town of Ceský Krumlov (see page 49 for details). Alternatively, cruise to Passau, where the rivers Inn and Ilz join the Danube, for a guided tour through the city. BLD Day 10. Regensburg. Still on the majestic Danube River, the medieval town of Regensburg awaits this morning. Here, a guided tour tells of the city's journey through the ages. Later, you'll reboard and reflect on the day spent in this Bavarian jewel. Day 14. Wertheim. Travel to Wertheim, where you'll enjoy a walking tour of the town's historic landmarks. Like a Local – here, you'll learn the art of pretzel making at one of Wertheim's renowned bakeries. BLD BLD Day 11. Nuremberg. Visiting Nuremberg today, you'll learn about the city's role in World War II during a guided tour that includes the Zeppelin Field, where many Nazi rallies were held. Afterwards, your ship will continue cruising along the Main-Danube Canal, crossing Europe's Continental Divide. Day 12. Bamberg. One of the few German cities that was not destroyed by bombs during World War II, World Heritage-listed Bamberg beckons this morning. Today, you'll gain local insight into this beautiful city during a guided tour of the city centre. BLD Day 13. Kitzingen, Würzburg. This morning, cruise the Main River to Kitzingen for a sightseeing tour. Later you'll reboard and journey to Würzburg, to visit the city's Residential Palace and local churches of various styles. An optional excursion also travels the Romantic Road to Rothenburg, for a guided tour of this medieval town (see page 49 for details). Day 15. Rüdesheim, Koblenz. In Rüdesheim, the Winzerexpress mini-train takes you to Siegfried's Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum, home to Germany's most remarkable collection of automated musical instruments. Later, cruise through the Rhine Gorge (a popular name for the World Heritage-listed Upper Middle Rhine Valley) to Koblenz. With your ship moored, perhaps set out at leisure for a post-dinner stroll to explore this delightful town. BLD Day 16. Cologne. Today arrive in Cologne, a city that's centred around the twin spires of its towering cathedral, Kölner Dom. Enjoy a locally guided tour as well as a Taste of Cologne – a visit to a local brewery to sample some beer. Reboard your ship before it sets off for Amsterdam. Day 17. Amsterdam. Spend an enchanting time on board a glass-top boat as you explore the city's picturesque canals. Pass under charming bridges and take in the glorious architecture that makes Amsterdam so appealing.
