Arrive Budapest. On arrival in Budapest, be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure to relax or explore the enchanting Hungarian capital. Two Night Stay: Sofitel Budapest Chain Bridge or similar. Day 2. Budapest. Enjoy a guided tour of Budapest, which includes highlights such as the historic Buda Castle, the distinctive Fisherman's Bastion, the Royal Palace, St Stephen's Basilica and more. This afternoon, enjoy free time to explore the city at your own pace. B Day 3. Budapest, Embark Ship. Continue exploring at your own pace, or join an optional tour to the Puszta region in the Great Hungarian Plain (own expense). Stop off for a horse riding demonstration and traditional lunch, before returning to Budapest to board your river ship. Today, 8 Day (EUBD08) guests join the tour on arrival in Budapest. This evening, get to know your travelling companions as you enjoy a delicious Welcome Dinner on board. Seven Night Stay: one of APT's luxurious Aria or Concerto river ships. BD Day 4. Bratislava. Bratislava, the diverse capital of nearby Slovakia, offers a mixture of 18th-century Rococo design and communist- era architecture. On a guided tour, see the Old Town Hall, Mirbach Palace and the Gothic facade of St Martin's Cathedral. Afterwards, re-board your ship and continue sailing towards Vienna. BLD Day 5. Vienna. Arrive in Vienna, Austria's capital, home to striking architecture, a rich classical musical culture and vibrant cafes. Take in many of the city's most important landmarks during a guided tour. With this afternoon at leisure, perhaps join an optional tour to Schönbrunn Palace (own expense). This evening, you may wish to take in an optional Mozart and Strauss concert (own expense). BLD Day 6. Dürnstein, Melk. Arrive in Dürnstein today and enjoy a guided walking tour. Explore the marvellous cobblestone lanes and perhaps view the ruins of the castle where Richard the Lionheart, the King of England, was imprisoned in 1192. Then take a scenic cruise to Melk, or enjoy a bicycle ride along the Danube River to Melk. Upon arrival, tour Melk Abbey, one of the world's most famous monastic sites, set high above the town on a rocky outcrop. Afterwards, enjoy free time to explore the magnificent town itself. BLD Day 7. Linz, Passau. Cruise to the city of Linz, where you may choose to travel by coach to Salzburg and take a guided tour around the city's famous Sound of Music sights (own expense). Or, cruise to Passau and enjoy a walking tour around the historic city, taking in the Old Town, St Stephen's Cathedral, the city's fortifications and more. BLD Day 8. Regensburg. Arrive in Regensburg, one of Germany's best-preserved medieval cities. Disembark your ship for a walking tour of the city's architectural highlights. BLD Day 9. Nuremberg. Learn all about the Bavarian city of Nuremberg today. A historic city tour takes you to a selection of World War II sites, such as the Reich Party Rally Grounds, the site of Hitler's now infamous rallies held annually from 1927 to 1938. Alternatively, discover spectacular medieval architecture, including the 900-year-old ramparts that surround the city and the Imperial Castle. BLD Day 10. Nuremberg, Disembark Ship, Pilzen, Prague. Disembark your ship in Nuremberg this morning where 8 Day (EUBD08) guests depart the tour with a transfer to the airport. Remaining guests travel by to the Czech Republic via coach, stopping at Pilzen on the way to Prague. Three Night Stay: Prague, InterContinental Prague or similar. B Day 11. Prague. Today in the beautiful city of Prague, set out on a guided tour of the Old Town. The remainder of the afternoon is then at your leisure. This evening, perhaps enjoy a folklore dinner show (own expense). B Day 12. Prague. With a full day at leisure to explore Prague, you may like to join an optional excursion to Terezín Concentration Camp Memorial or take an optional excursion to Lobkowicz Palace (both at own expense). B Day 13. Depart Prague. Your discovery of the Blue Danube draws to a conclusion today. After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
