Arrive Amsterdam, Embark Ship. The Dutch capital of Amsterdam is an innovative city with a rich and fascinating 700-year-old history. Upon arrival here today, you will be met and transferred to your river ship. This evening, get to know your fellow travellers over a delicious Welcome Dinner on board as anticipation builds for the exciting journey ahead. Seven Night Stay: a Concerto River Ship. D Day 2. Amsterdam, Volendam, Edam. This morning, enjoy a splendid guided boat tour along Amsterdam's enchanting maze of canals then explore the city with a local guide. Rejoin your ship and cruise to Hoorn. Upon arrival, head to Volendam for a guided tour which takes in the fishing fleet, the fish auction building and the delightful fishermen's houses overlooking the wonderful harbour. From here, travel to Edam for a walking tour of the town's Old Quarter. BLD Day 3. Arnhem, Nijmegen. Arrive in the historic city of Arnhem where you'll have a choice of two exciting sightseeing options today. Perhaps visit the monument commemorating the Battle of Arnhem Bridge and explore the Airborne Museum. Alternatively, you might prefer to tour the 300-year-old palace and perfectly landscaped gardens of Het Loo, the former residence of the Dutch Royal Family. Later, re-board your ship and cruise to Nijmegen – one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands – for time at leisure. More than 2,000 years old, see how the city has transformed from a Roman military camp to modern municipality. Back on board this evening, enjoy a sensational dinner as you continue sailing en route to Belgium. BLD Day 4. Antwerp, Belgium. An intriguing Flemish city with cafe-dotted cobblestone lanes and Renaissance monuments, the delights of Antwerp are endless. Enjoy an enthralling walking tour through the city and see the medieval fortress and Great Market Square, all the while admiring and the dazzling architecture that surrounds you at every turn. You may prefer to take an optional excursion to nearby Brussels, Belgium's beautiful capital as well as the administrative capital of the European Union (own expense). After a delicious dinner on board, your ship will set sail for Ghent. BLD Day 5. Ghent. Join a local guide for a tour of Ghent this morning, stopping by a number of the city's best-loved attractions including the Korenlei, the Graslei and the Castle of the Counts, among many other charming highlights. Afterwards, you may like to join an optional excursion to the World Heritage- listed city of Bruges, a medieval city in the Flemish region of Belgium (own expense). This evening, you'll cruise back to the Netherlands through the Dutch region of Zeeland, home to one of the world's most complex engineering projects, the Delta Works, which took more than 30 years to complete. Later this evening, enjoy a tantalising dinner as you continue your spectacular journey. BLD Day 6. Willemstad, Kinderdijk. Stop in the lovely city of Willemstad, a small historic town with well-preserved fortifications. Enjoy a walking tour before a private organ recital at the oldest Protestant church in the Netherlands. This afternoon, you'll visit World Heritage-listed Kinderdijk. This lovely village is renowned for having the country's greatest concentration of windmills, all dating back to the 18th century. Back on board your ship this evening, enjoy a superb dinner. BLD Day 7. Amsterdam, Keukenhof Gardens. Your journey comes full circle as you arrive back in Amsterdam today. Here you will alight the ship and travel to the beautiful Keukenhof Gardens, which encompasses more than 70 acres of world-renowned gardens and parklands. Relish the chance to admire the spectacular display of bulb flowers in bloom, including colourful tulips. In the afternoon, travel to Zaanse Schans, a delightful Dutch village famous for its wooden windmills and specialty cheeses. You will also see wooden houses and barns that are constructed in a typically wooden architectural style. BLD Day 8. Disembark Ship, Depart Amsterdam. Following breakfast on board this morning, your incredible journey reaches its end. Disembark your ship, bid farewell to your wonderful crew and transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
