Inside India
Just reading the word you feel your senses start to tingle. It is a celebration of colour; a nod to life
DISCOVER THE TAJ MAHAL
As the vast exterior of the Taj Mahal dazzles
in the sun or falls into shadow, the colour slowly
changes. It doesn't matter if you're seeing the
monument for the first time or the third, its
image will never be the same. Created by the
Mughal emperor Shah Jahan as a mausoleum
for his beloved wife, the architectural masterpiece
took at least 20,000 people 22 years to build.
MARVEL AT THE FORTS
Let your childhood dreams of gargantuan forts
come alive as you experience some of the most
famous in the world. The World Heritage-listed
Agra Fort is more like a walled city, its inside
filled with palaces and mosques. In Jaipur,
the Amber Fort perfectly embodies the romance
of Rajasthan, while Delhi's historic Red Fort is
considered the peak of Mughal architecture.
UNTOUCHED WATERS
Although renowned for its constant chaos
of horns beeping, cows wandering and saris
swirling in cities such as Delhi and Kolkata,
like many of us, India has a quiet side – the
rarely travelled Lower Ganges River. By the end
of your cruise, you'll have come to realise how
these sacred waters can be pure and purifying,
transformative and transcendental, all at once.
