This evening, enjoy a Welcome Dinner cruise along the Seine River before by a Paris Illuminations Tour. B D Day 3. Paris. Enjoy a day at leisure today to relax or further explore Paris. Tonight, you may like to visit the Moulin Rouge (own expense). B EMBARK CRUISE IN PARIS Day 4. Paris. On a trip to the Somme Battlefields today, you'll gain incredible insight into World War I. Visiting the site of the Battle of the Somme, which took place between July and November of 1916, learn how the British and French armies mounted an offensive designed to reclaim parts of France that the German Army occupied. On your return to Paris, transfer to the Seine River where your luxury river ship awaits. Here, 15 Day (EUSPC15) guests arrive and board the ship. This evening, enjoy the Captain's Gala Welcome Dinner. Seven Night Stay: APT's luxurious Aria River Ship – the MS AMALEGRO. SET OFF ALONG THE ROMANTIC SEINE Day 5. Vernon, Giverny. This morning your ship will set off along the Seine River. Take in the scenery as you depart Paris and cruise through the beautiful landscapes of north-west France. On arrival in Vernon, disembark for an excursion to Giverny, home of Claude Monet, a famous founder of French impressionist painting. Here, visit Maison et Jardin Claude- Monet (Monet's House and Garden). As you wander the gardens, you'll see the water garden with its Japanese bridge, water lilies, wisteria and azaleas, which inspired some of Monet's most famous paintings. Afterwards, enjoy time at leisure to explore the cobbled streets of Vernon, then re-board your ship for another delicious dinner. BLD BD Day 6. Vernon, Rouen. Set in the heart of the Normandy region and once one of the largest and most prosperous cities of medieval Europe, Rouen is a place of incredible history and architecture. On disembarking here, a tour will take you to many of the city's most enthralling sights. Walk among the French half-timbered houses; see the Cathédral Notre-Dame, which has the highest spire in France; and admire the Gros Horloge, a 16th-century astronomical clock. You'll also learn about the real story of Joan of Arc as you see the see the 14th-century courthouse where she was sentenced to death as well as the Market Square where she was burnt at the stake. After the tour, enjoy time at leisure to further explore as you please. With your ship moored overnight in Rouen, perhaps go for an evening stroll after dinner.
