Introducing the MS AMAVIDA Making its debut in 2013, the brand new MS AMAVIDA has been custom-designed and built specifically with Portugal's beautiful Douro River in mind. Which is precisely why there's a large and refreshing swimming pool atop the expansive Sun Deck. And why 70% of the MS AMAVIDA'S 54 staterooms feature private Outside Balconies – allowing guests to soak in the sunshine and bask in the glorious riverside landscapes. A Week of Exploration Between Portugal's second-largest city, Porto, and Vega de Terrón in Spain, there are a number of attractions that await. Such as Lamego Castle, a 12th-century castle that overlooks the historic city of Lamego. And the Palácio de Mateus in Vila Real, a perfect example of Baroque architecture long associated with the Mateus Rosé wine. And of course, the Alpendurada Monastery, where you'll stop for a home-cooked meal. Stylish Accommodation Every stateroom aboard the MS AMAVIDA presents a range of contemporary appointments and facilities including a fully-equipped ensuite bathroom, climate control, a 42-inch flat-screen television with internet access, and free wireless internet. Measuring 215 square feet, Balcony Staterooms make up the majority of accommodation on board. At a huge 323 square feet meanwhile, the two Suites represent the ultimate in indulgence. An Excursion to Salamanca No visit to this region would be complete without a trip to the World Heritage-listed city of Salamanca in Spain. With APT, you'll spend an entire day here to take a guided tour and enjoy lunch in a local restaurant before time at leisure. Your Onboard Experience With all onboard meals included and prepared by internationally-trained chefs, you're sure to enjoy the fine dining on offer in the ship's main restaurant. An alfresco restaurant is also available on select days. When you're not off exploring, the Sun Deck and Main Lounge are both great places in which to relax and take in the riverside sights. The ship also features a Spa, a Fitness Room, an elevator and a Reception Desk that's open 24 hours a day.
