Amazon Lodge Luxury Deep in the Amazon lies the luxury eco-lodge, Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica. Wake to a symphony of tropical bird song, fall asleep by lantern light to the gentle noise of the jungle and in between, discover the wildlife and beauty of this majestic rainforest. Amazing Access to Truly Remote Wilderness On the banks of Peru's meandering Madre de Dios River, a tributary of the Amazon, the Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica lies within a 1,000 hectare private ecological reserve in the Amazon Rainforest of southeastern Peru. Despite its remote setting in the world's largest rainforest, it's easily accessible by a short flight and boat ride. Unlike many other Amazon experiences, the convenient simplicity of getting to the lodge allows you to maximise the time that you actually spend in this amazing forest. Elegance at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica Built around the trunk of a strangler fig in the architectural tradition of the local Ese-Eja and Machiguenga people, the lodge's main pavilion features large windows and several balconies from which to absorb your surrounds. Here, you'll also find a bar; an upstairs lounge- style loft and a central dining room in which you'll enjoy cuisine designed around the inventive use of local, fresh ingredients. By the river, the lodge's massage spa provides a great place to rest and rejuvenate. 32 Your Private Cabaña With 38 square metres of space, the cosy thatched-roof cabaña in which you'll stay fuses contemporary style with natural materials and blends perfectly with the forest. Inside, you'll find cosy beds with a mosquito-netting canopy; a ceiling fan; a bathroom with a separate toilet and hot shower; and a porch-style siesta area complete with hammocks and chairs. Your Amazon Experience During your stay, you'll choose from a range of included Rainforest Excursions, led by an English-speaking guide. You can be as active or leisurely as you prefer. Excursions are offered day and night, by foot or boat, many providing an opportunity to visit local villages and gain an insight into the way of life in this remote environment. One activity not to be missed is a walk over the lodge's Canopy Walkway, a series of bridges, platforms and towers set in the tree-tops. Look for wildlife that can only be found high in the vegetation of the jungle canopy. Unique Butterfly House Visit the Inkaterra Butterfly House offering an interactive experience with these colourful creatures. Peru boasts the greatest number of butterfly species in the world, accounting for 20% of the species found on earth. See the colourful native macaws of the Amazon
