This morning after breakfast, travel to the mountain railway station of Myrdal to board the Flåm Railway train, which will take you on one of the world's steepest narrow gauge rail journeys. Absorb stunning views as you descend into Flåm Valley heading towards Sognefjord, where rivers cut through deep ravines; waterfalls cascade down the side of steep snow-capped mountains; and farms cling to sheer, seemingly uninhabitable slopes. Afterwards, enjoy a cruise over Nærøyfjord, named for the Norse god 'Njord', the god of the seafarer and the sea. This morning set out on a ferry from Balestrand to Fjærland and take in the amazing views of the Jostedal Glacier behind the fjord as you approach the town. After the ferry ride, board a coach for the journey to Briksdal. Continue to Briksdal Glacier in Jostedal Glacier National Park, where this powerful river of ice swoops down from a staggering height of 1,200 metres to the lush, narrow Briksdal Valley. Here, enjoy time to see this impressive glacier up close. BLD Day 8. Balestrand, Lillehammer. Depart Balestrand today and travel to the nearby village of Ørnes. Here, you'll stop to visit the picturesque 12th-century Urnes Stave Church, set against the stunning backdrop of Lustrafjorden. Afterwards, continue on to the host city of the 1994 Winter Olympic Games, Lillehammer, located on the shores of Lake Mjøsa. Settle in to your hotel before dinner.
