culinary of the cape – fooD & Wine gourmet safari (9 Days/8 nights) ESCORTED lUXURy ITInERARy DAy 1: Upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport, your local tour guide will meet you, transferring you to the Southern Sun Cullinan Hotel, your home for the next three nights. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. (D) DAy 2: After breakfast, meet your guide at the hotel lobby to begin your interactive Cape Malay cooking safari. Experience a hands-on cooking workshop in a local family's home, ending with a mug of faloodah to toast your hard work. Afterwards, a city orientation tour, with stops at the Castle of Good Hope and Table Mountain, offers plenty of opportunity for photos. This evening, venture outside the hotel for an entertaining dinner at Gold Restaurant. (B, L, D) DAy 3: Today, a full day of touring the Cape Peninsula, along the scenic Chapman's Peak Drive, starts at Cape Point, where you'll take the funicular and witness the meeting of two oceans—the Atlantic and the Indian—better known as the Cape of Good Hope. Break for lunch at the Black Marlin in Simon's Town, then explore the area's historic naval base. Visiti a colony of African "jackass" penguins at Boulders Beach before returning to your hotel for dinner. (B, L) DAy 4: This morning, check out of the hotel and meet your guide for departure to the Winelands. Enjoy a scenic, historic drive through the local wine regions in the Western Cape. A selection of cheeses complements your wines. Afterwards, take part in a tour of the Babylonstoren Garden, then it's off to the exclusive Cap Classique at Haute Cabrière. Have lunch in the valley before heading to the Waterford Estate in Stellenbosch for a chocolate and wine pairing. This evening, check into your hotel, The Oude Werf, for a two-night stay; use your free time for exploring, or resting up for tomorrow. (B, L) DAy 5: After breakfast, begin your day with the Classic Cape Cuisine Walk. On foot, you'll travel into the historic heart of Stellenbosch, sampling traditional Cape food and wine as your culinary guide leads you past splendid buildings and colorful characters, each part of the town's charm. The rest of the day is at your leisure. (B, L) DAy 6: Transfer to Cape Town International Airport in the morning for your connecting flight to Port Elizabeth Airport (flight costs not included). Upon arrival, your local guide will meet and transfer you to the Amakhala Safari Lodge, where you'll spend your next three nights. This afternoon, embark on your first game drive into the bush, accompanied by your experienced ranger, in four-wheel drive open safari vehicles. Dinner will be enjoyed back at the lodge. (B, L, D) Days 7 – 8: Feel your heart beat to the rhythm of Africa as you join a Big Five Safari Adventure on Amakhala Game Reserve. Morning and evening game drives with its experienced rangers will leave you in awe of the diverse vegetation and spectacular scenery that abounds there. Back at the lodge, find cuisine that excites the palate, inspiring you to further explore the rich African culture around you. (B, L, D) Day 9: Embark on your last game drive early, then return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast. After check-out, meet your driver for a return transfer to Port Elizabeth Airport for your connecting flight home.
