On arrival in the Argentinian capital today, you'll be met and transferred to your hotel. After settling in, enjoy some time at leisure and perhaps step out to explore this vibrant city. Stay: Buenos Aires, Alvear Palace Hotel. Day 2. Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, Embark Antarctica Cruise. This morning, transfer to the airport where 11 Day (ISAA11) guests join the tour. Board your included flight to Ushuaia, the capital of Tierra del Fuego regarded by many as the world's most southerly city. On arrival you'll be transferred to your luxury expedition ship, Le Boréal. Greeted by your knowledgeable Expedition Leader and a team of expert naturalist guides with a contagious passion for the White Continent, the atmosphere aboard is one of excitement. Enjoy some time to settle into your luxurious stateroom and explore the ship's amenities before heading to the Captain's Welcome Dinner where you'll get an insight into what to expect on the action-filled days to come. Afterwards, head to the viewing deck to admire the mountainous scenery of South America's most southerly tip on an early evening cruise down the Beagle Channel in the Tierra del Fuego Archipelago. Your wildlife spotting begins here as you pass colonies of Magellanic penguin, Rock Cormorants and sea lions. 10 Night Cruise: Le Boréal. BD Days 3-4. Drake Passage. Over the course of the next two days, you'll cross the Drake Passage, connecting the Atlantic and Pacific oceans between Cape Horn and the South Shetland Islands. During this time, learn more about the adventures ahead as you participate in a range of informative, interactive and entertaining presentations on the wildlife, history and geology of Antarctica. BLD Days 5-9. Antarctic Peninsula. On arrival in Antarctica, your itinerary becomes flexible in order to maximise your discovery of this enchanting world of ice and water. Utilising the vast knowledge of your experienced naturalist guides and Expedition Leader, your Captain will charter a course based on the most exciting sightseeing opportunities available and the most favourable ice and weather conditions. For the next five days you'll enjoy thrilling morning and afternoon Zodiac rides with your experienced Expedition Team who will get you up close to the towering glaciers. Experience some of the most unique wildlife viewing in the world as you're taken to visit gentoo, chinstrap and Adélie penguin rookeries. You're also likely to encounter Weddell, crabeater, leopard and Antarctic fur seals. These chilly waters are often frequented by hunting orca and the breaching forms of humpback and minke whales, so be sure to keep an eye out. Although landing sites will vary depending on conditions, the route will feature the most scenic bays and channels, including the stunning Lemeire Channel and Neko Bay, where icebergs loom in a shade of captivating blue. Head to the shores of Deception Island, an active volcano surrounded by distinctive black sand.
