Pink Lake, near Esperance, is a true wonder of nature
PINK LAKE & WAVE ROCK
There are not many places where you will find
both a pink-coloured lake and a rock wave
plunging into the bush. Pink Lake is a natural
occurrence, getting its soft rosy colour from the
high concentration of algae in the water. Walk
along the bottom of Wave Rock's 14-metre rock
face and experience its geological wonder.
WILDFLOWER SPOTTING
When the season comes, more than 800 species of
wildflowers appear in pockets across the southern
end of Western Australia (subject to conditions),
creating a picturesque and colourful landscape.
Harsh conditions are synonymous with the west,
but remarkably, the wildflowers here are among
the most beautiful and diverse in the world.
TOWERING TINGLE TREES
Hugging Western Australia's south-west coast
is the Valley of the Giants, a forest of enormous
red tingle trees. These tapering 400-year-old
giants only grow in this area of the world and
can be explored from the forest floor and even
from inside their massive hollowing trunks,
where delightful earthly scents abound.
