Cu Chi Tunnels, Ho Chi Minh City. Visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, a tunnel network built by Vietnamese resistance fighters during the Vietnam War. Part of a larger network, the tunnels were used by Viet Cong guerrillas as hiding spots during combat. They also served as communication and supply routes, hospitals, weapon caches and living quarters for numerous guerrilla fighters. Later, return to Ho Chi Minh City. Perhaps explore with one of the optional experiences available (see page 58). B Day 14. Ho Chi Minh City, Embark Ship. Transfer to My Tho Port to board your boutique river ship. Enjoy a Welcome Lunch on board. Stay (Seven Nights): RV La Marguerite. BLD Day 15. Sa Dec, Cai Be. Take a boat ride to Sa Dec for a walking tour. After lunch, visit Cai Be's floating markets and go ashore to explore further. Pay a visit to a rice paper manufacturer. BLD Day 16. Tan Chau, Border Crossing. Travel along the tributaries around Tan Chau, then go ashore for a rickshaw tour and visit a small island of lush greenery. Later, relax as you cruise to the Cambodian border. BLD Day 17. Phnom Penh. Take a sobering excursion to the Killing Fields and the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, located on the site of the Khmer Rouge's notorious Security Prison 21 (S-21). Learn of the atrocities inflicted upon Cambodians during Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s. After lunch on board, disembark and enjoy a tour of the spectacular Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda. BLD Day 18. Phnom Penh, Koh Chen. Enhance Your Journey: Maybe take an Apsara Arts Tour, visit Phnom Tamao Park and Wildlife Centre or take a tuk tuk tour (see page 58). Later, cruise to copper-making village, Koh Chen where you'll explore home workshops. BLD Day 19. Oudong, Kampong Tralach. Like a Local – Tour the former royal capital of Oudong, and visit the Buddhist monastery for a special blessing ceremony experience. Continue to Kampong Tralach for a visit to Wat Kampong Tralach Pleu. Like a Local – Take an ox-cart ride. BLD Day 20. Kampong Chhnang. Enjoy a small-boat excursion into the wetlands near Kampong Chhnang this morning. Then return to your ship and journey to Prek K'dam. This evening, enjoy a Farewell Dinner on board. BLD Day 21. Disembark Ship at Prek K'dam, Siem Reap, Angkor. Disembark your river ship in Prek K'dam and enjoy time to explore Siem Reap at your leisure. Later, you will visit the incredible site of Angkor Archaeological Park, which contains the magnificent remains of various capitals of the Khmer empire. Here, visit the 13th-century temple of Bayon. Today, visit Ta Prohm, a temple built in the late 12th and early 13th centuries and famous for its intertwined trees.
