Explore the beauty of Kununurra at leisure before travelling to Lake Argyle, the largest man-made lake in the Southern Hemisphere. Join a spectacular wildlife cruise on the mighty Ord River. Discover a fascinating ecological system that has developed from the damming of the Ord River at two locations to create an area that is rich in wildlife, flora and undeniable scenic beauty. Enjoy sunset while cruising Lake Kununurra. Stay: Kununurra Country Club Resort. BLD Day 7. Purnululu National Park. Covering almost 240,000 hectares, World Heritage-listed Purnululu National Park is home to an amazing array of natural phenomena. It's been around for 350 million years and has long been inhabited by local Indigenous people, however the striking Bungle Bungle Range was a secret from the outside world until 1983. Be amazed by the magnificent sandstone beehive formations along the way to the incredible Echidna Chasm, a long and narrow chasm. It has striking colour variations, depending on the angle of the sun beaming into the chasm, with Livistona palms waving from the 200-metre high ridges above. Two Night Stay: EXCLUSIVE! Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge. BLD Day 8. Piccaninny Creek, Cathedral Gorge. Explore the magic of Purnululu for yourself, and discover the depth of the Bungle Bungle Range. Walk along Piccaninny Creek, a winding gorge within the high walls of the Bungle Bungle domes. Enter the natural amphitheatre of Cathedral Gorge, a spacious cavern where the acoustics are astounding. Marvel at the majestic beehive domes as your guide brings the natural history of the range to life. You may like to experience an optional scenic helicopter flight over the domes (own expense). This evening, enjoy sunset drinks as the sun goes down on the Bungle Bungle massif. BLD Day 9. Halls Creek, Fitzroy Crossing. Head to Halls Creek located at the northern edge of the Great Sandy Desert, and admire the unusual China Wall, a natural quartz formation that runs six kilometres along the landscape. It is also considered the longest single fault of its type in the world. Continue towards Fitzroy Crossing, a small settlement and a true outback town situated on the mighty Fitzroy River. Stay: Fitzroy Crossing, Fitzroy River Lodge. BLD Day 10. Geikie Gorge, Broome. Travel to Geikie Gorge National Park and explore the gorge. Flooding of the river has bleached the walls white over time – an intriguing sight that makes it popular with photographers. Board a unique cruise and learn about the Indigenous Banuba people in the area, hear timeless stories from the Dreamtime, discover surprising bush medicines and view sacred sites as the towering Geikie Gorge rock-face passes by. Return to Broome and arrive at the iconic Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa, boasting a spectacular setting with gently swaying palm trees. After a morning at leisure in Broome, board your expedition small ship for your Kimberley coast cruise.
