42 ARRIVE IN THE YUNNAN PROVINCE Day 1. Arrive Kunming. Be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to spend at leisure. Tonight, meet your APT Tour Director and fellow travellers for a Welcome Reception at the hotel. Two Night Stay: Kunming, Green Lake Hotel. Day 2. Kunming, Stone Forest. Alluring Kunming blends ancient Chinese heritage with the features of a modern commercial hub. A real highlight of your time in Kunming is today's visit to the amazing Stone Forest, an enormous collection of karst rock pillars towering skyward. A World Heritage-listed site, the stone karsts have the appearance of petrified trees. Enjoy a delicious lunch at Chef Pan's restaurant in Yiliang. Yiliang is a small town famous for its roast duck, and is believed by many to be the most succulent in China. Return to Kunming, and tonight you'll enjoy a unique 'Across the Bridge Noodles' dinner, an authentic dish in the Yunnan Province. BLD Day 3. Kunming, Lijiang, Freedom of Choice. Transfer to the airport for your included flight to the World Heritage-listed town of Lijiang, located within a beautiful valley at the foot of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Tonight for dinner, enjoy Brazilian cuisine at Em Chamas Brazilian Restaurant or feast on traditional Chinese fare at your hotel's 7 Colours Restaurant. Three Night Stay: Lijiang, InterContinental Lijiang Ancient Town. BLD Day 4. Lijiang. Explore the ancient town of Lijiang today. The town successfully fuses the many cultural traditions that have been present here for centuries. Spend time discovering the alleys and canals that weave through the town, before a traditional Chinese tea ceremony. Later, have your cameras at the ready as you visit Jade Spring Park, where the white marble bridge and the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the background provide a true photographer's paradise. BL Day 5. Lijiang. Today begins with a short drive out of town to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, where you'll have the opportunity to ride a cable car up to the Yunshan Ping viewing platform offering spectacular panoramas of the snow-capped peaks. Later, attend the Impression Lijiang Show. With hundreds of dancers, this spectacle demonstrates the lifestyles of the local minority groups, all set to the backdrop of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Return to Lijiang to visit the Baisha Ancient Wall Paintings. BLD Day 6. Lijiang, Shangri-La. As you travel towards Shangri-La, enjoy stunning views of the dramatic landscape of the Yangtze River. Later, stop at Tiger Leaping Gorge to admire this magnificent canyon carved through the mountains by the majestic Jinsha River. Join your fellow travellers for dinner at your hotel tonight. Built between 1679 and 1681, Songzanlin Monastery features a striking gilded copper roof which can be seen from miles away shining in the sun. This afternoon select from three activities.
