Gone, not forgotten and BORN AGAIN When Alan Barson found some moulds for a traditional 6m workboat going mouldy in a West Auckland paddock, he recognised the grubby, rusting frames and glass shells lying derelict among the grass and weeds were the Scupper 21. unknown number are in disrepair or are unaccounted for. Scupper 21 (hull 14) is the first boat to be built from these moulds for nearly two decades and her classic traditional workboat style made a considerable impact at the recent Auckland International Boat Show. The boatbuilders were clearly on a mission to raise her O standard from a trusty workhorse look to a special vessel with character for a discerning owner.
