Professional, pragmatic and proven M arine Industrial Design is benefiting from the support and investment that comes with being part of the International Babcock Group. During the year we have built on our core of traditional New Zealand commercial marine clients to encompass government and international contracts to support our growth of services and development or resources. MID continues to support our local shipyard and engineering partners in the Whangarei area. We worked with Shipco to provide the engineering design of the deck equipment for their recent delivery the tug PT May, ensuring classification compliance and client satisfaction. We have helped Weco build four new nickel barges for Noumea and complex penstock refurbishment winches for a contract in Tasmania. Earlier in the year we worked with Ship Repair New Zealand and The Spirit of Adventure Trust to ensure the first stage of the mid-life refit of the Spirit of Adventure was completed successfully, with the new engines and associated structures installed to Maritime New Zealand standards. As part of our drive to improve our services and provide the best possible service to clients we have moved our Whangarei office to Port Road with a dedicated local representative to maintain contact with the Whangarei marine community. Mark can deal with local engineering and design requests while ensuring larger projects are immediately directed towards the most appropriate resource within the company. Our office in Auckland's North Shore offers ongoing naval architecture and marine engineering support to PB Sea-Tow on engineering projects in Australia and more recently on salvage and recovery work in Tauranga. We have also worked closely with local and international superyacht clients to ensure the effective execution of major refits, repair and modification projects in New Zealand and overseas. We have also been working closely with the New Zealand Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, providing naval architecture, marine design and marine consultancy services for a number of major design, conversion and modification projects. MID has a multi-disciplined team of experienced naval architects and marine, mechanical, electrical and control systems engineers who have years of project management experience. They have the knowledge and resources to ensure major marine repair, conversion or newbuild projects are completed to specification and to the required rules and regulations to provide your business with the most cost-effective asset available. Marine Industrial Design is well known and recommended by the major IACS classification societies, who know they can rely on MID's experience to ensure their clients' projects are delivered to meet the required regulations From extending hulls to replacing keels, repowers, stability modifications or major hull reconfigurations, you can count on MID to deliver a professional, pragmatic and proven solution.
