41 Day 4. Paris, Amsterdam. Say 'au revoir' to Paris after breakfast as you board your coach and traverse the beautiful landscapes of northern France, Belgium and The Netherlands. Arrive in Amsterdam to board your river ship, where you will dock overnight in the heart of the city within easy strolling distance to the iconic sights. 18 Day guests (EUTCAP18) join the tour in Amsterdam. On board tonight, enjoy a Captain's Welcome Reception. Stay (14 Nights): aboard your luxurious Travelmarvel river ship. BD Day 5. Amsterdam, Utrecht. Clustered by historic houses and studded with low bridges, Amsterdam's network of 17th-century canals lends the city its nickname – 'The Venice of the North'. Today, you'll board a glass-top boat and glide past the city's impressive waterside facades. Back on land, enjoy some free time before travelling by coach via Rembrandt's Windmill, immortalised in the artist's paintings, to Utrecht. From here, your ship will set off along the Rhine as you enjoy a special Gala Dinner. BLD Day 6. Bonn, Drachenburg Castle. Having entered Germany, cruise through Cologne and be astounded by the magnificent Cologne Cathedral on the bank of the Rhine. Your cruise continues to Bonn, where you will be able to explore this picturesque city. One of Germany's oldest cities, it was discovered in the first-century BC as a Roman settlement. Like a Local – ride a scenic funicular train to the hilltops and enjoy a visit to the majestic 19th-century Drachenburg Castle, a highly favoured local treasure. During your private tour, absorb the impeccable gardens and have your camera ready to capture the superb views of the surrounding valleys. This evening, enjoy a delicious dinner on board your river ship. Afterwards, perhaps retreat to the lounge as you glide into the night. BLD Day 7. Rhine Gorge, Rüdesheim. Continue cruising to experience a true highlight of the holiday – cruising through the Rhine Gorge, considered by locals to be the most beautiful section of the Rhine River. Watch in awe as steep slopes covered in vineyards and dotted with ancient castles drift past, before your ship docks in Rüdesheim, a Rhine Gorge wine town. Here, the Winzerexpress mini-train will take you through the town to Siegfried's Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum, which houses the most beautiful collection of automated musical instruments in Germany. BLD Day 8. Wertheim. Like a Local – be greeted by the friendly locals and learn about their culture as you are welcomed into their homes for coffee and cake. Explore the beautifully evocative town of Wertheim, perfectly positioned on the confluence of the Tauber and Main rivers, as you discover the town's history dating back to the 7th century. Return to your ship and enjoy some time at leisure on board, as you glide along the Main River. Later this evening, enjoy a superb dinner on board your ship, then watch the glittering lights of medieval towns glide past as you cruise through the night. Along the Main River, your ship is able to cruise the entire journey with ease, courtesy of the ship passing through the Main River's 34 locks. BLD Day 9. Würzburg. Verdant hills and rich vineyards sit on the fringe of Würzburg, while the Main River is a prominent feature of this stunning city. The architectural beauty that further defines Würzburg is on show today as you visit Würzburg Residence, a magnificent palace with its grand staircase, chapel and grand salon. Here, a walk through Würzburg Court Garden is a delight for both nature and art lovers, with its terraced gardens and water basin encircled by stunning yew trees. Reboard your ship this afternoon and relax, then later, enjoy a superb dinner on board.
