Stay (Two Nights): Cusco, Palacio del Inka (a Luxury Collection Hotel). B Day 16. Cusco. Take a guided tour of Cusco before dinner and a traditional Peruvian folklore show. BD Day 17. Cusco, Lake Titicaca. Travel via the small town of Andahuaylillas to Puno, on the shores of Lake Titicaca. On arrival enjoy time at leisure. Stay (Two Nights): Puno, Hotel Jose Antonio. BL Day 18. Lake Titicaca. Like a Local – cruise on Lake Titicaca to the man-made reed islands of the Uros people. Enjoy dinner at your hotel this evening. BD Day 19. Lake Titicaca, Lima. Fly back to Lima. A Taste of Lima – tonight, enjoy dinner at Restaurant Huaca Pucllana. Stay: Lima, Casa Andina Select Miraflores. BD Day 20. Lima, Guayaquil. After breakfast today, you'll depart Peru and fly to Guayaquil in Ecuador. Stay: Guayaquil, Hampton Inn by Hilton. B Day 21. Guayaquil, San Rafael, Bucay. Today board the Tren Crucero and pass banana, sugar cane, mango and pineapple plantations on the way to San Rafael hacienda. After lunch, visit a cocoa farm then continue on to Bucay. From here, visit a Shuar community to enjoy a demonstration of ancient traditions and customs. Stay: Bucay, D'Franco Lodge (or similar). BLD Day 22. Bucay, Guamote, Riobamba. Boarding the train at Alausí station, your ascent into the mountains begins. Visit the Sibambe viewpoint to see upcoming The Devil's Nose, a series of switchbacks on the track. After lunch at Guamote, visit the Inti Sisa project, which provides educational workshops for the local community. Your rail journey then continues via Colta and Balbanera church to Riobamba. Stay: Riobamba, Hacienda Abraspungo or Hostería La Andaluza (or similar). BLD Day 23. Riobamba, Urbina, Ambato, Cunchibamba, Latacunga. Transfer by coach to Urbina, 3,609 metres above sea level. Here, Ecuador's last 'ice-gatherer' will share his experiences of extracting ice from the slopes of the Chimborazo volcano. Afterwards, continue on by train to Ambato for lunch. Later, visit the rose plantation at Cunchibamba, then rejoin the train and continue to Latacunga. Stay: Latacunga, La Cienega, Hato Verde or Rumipamba de las Rosas Hotel (or similar). BLD Day 24. Latacunga, Cotopaxi, Quito. This morning the train will take you to Cotopaxi, where you'll disembark and travel by coach into beautiful Cotopaxi National Park. Why not replace Day 14 touring with a scenic hike to Machu Picchu, before dinner at your hotel. You'll then revisit Machu Picchu the next morning for a tour.
