Day 2: Old City of Jerusalem Drive to the Mount of Olives to drink in a far-reaching view of the city, then take a closer look at this historical destination with a visit to the Church of All Nations, King David's Tomb, and the Cenacle (Upper Room of the Last Supper) on Mount Zion. A deeper dive into its sites takes you within the city walls to the Cardo; Temple Mount; Western Wall; Via Dolorosa; Church of the Holy Sepulchre; Old City Market oriental bazaar; and the Garden Tomb. Day 3: New City of Jerusalem & Bethlehem Take a ride to Ein Karem to the Church of the Visitation, then proceed to Yad Vashem, the Israeli memorial to the Holocaust. Continue on to the Israel Museum, the Shrine of the Book—where the legendary Dead Sea Scrolls are housed—and a miniature model of Jerusalem as it was during the Second Temple period. Finally, make your way to Bethlehem for the Church of the Nativity. Day 4: Dead Sea & Masada The town where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found, Qumran, is the first stop, its ancient city an oft-visited attraction right along the shores of the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth. In Masada, the last stronghold of the Jews after the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 CE, you'll ascend Masada by cable car to visit the food storeroom, water irrigation system, and Herod's Palace. Day 5: Beit She'an, Yardenit & Nazareth Leave Jerusalem, traveling the roads that lead through the Jordan Valley to Beit She'an, a newly excavated city, where you'll stop to visit the Roman Theater. Drive on to Yardenit, a well-known baptismal site on the Jordan River, then continue to Nazareth via Cana in Galilee to see the Church of the Annunciation, St. Joseph Church—once the site of his workshop—and Mary's Well. Day 6: Tiberias, Capernaum & Banias After a short tour of Tiberias, take a boat ride to Capernaum, where the remains of a 2nd century synagogue lie. Proceed to Tabgha, where you'll visit the Church of Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes to admire its 4th century mosaic floor. Go on to the Mount of Beatitudes, best known as the place where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount, before driving on to Banias Springs and Waterfall and touring the Golan Heights. Day 7: Acre, Haifa, Megiddo & Caesarea Leave Lower Galilee and make your way to Acre to visit the ancient city and harbor. The next leg of your journey takes you to Haifa to view the Persian Gardens at the Baháí Temple, then to Megiddo, the biblical site of Armageddon, where archeological excavations have revealed a well-preserved water supply system. From there, you'll travel on to Caesarea, the capital of Judea under the Romans, where excavations of their own have uncovered the restored Roman theater and aqueduct. Drive along the Coastal Plain to your night in Tel Aviv. Day 8: Departure Transfer back to Ben Gurion International Airport for your flight home.
