22 Day 1. Arrive Yangon, Embark Ship. Upon arrival in Yangon, you'll be met at the airport and transferred to the Irrawaddy River where you'll board the RV Princess Panhwar, your beautiful home for the next 14 nights. After lunch on board, explore the sights of Yangon on a late afternoon tour. Visit Chaukhtatgyi Temple to see the massive reclining Buddha. Like a Local – marvel at the Shwedagon Pagoda, a 99 metre-high gilded pagoda and stupa that dominates the city skyline from atop Singuttara Hill. Tonight, enjoy a Welcome Dinner on board. Stay (14 Nights): RV Princess Panhwar. LD Day 2. Maubin. Awake today to the glorious scenery along the Irrawaddy River as you cruise upstream. Arrive after lunch in Maubin, home to a number of universities as well as a range of Buddhist pagodas. During a walking tour, learn about Ba Maw, a prominent Burmese political leader, and visit the local market. BLD Day 3. Danuphyu, Zalon. Continue along the Irrawaddy Delta and stop to explore Danuphyu, where the revered General Maha Bandula led a famous Burmese defensive against British troops during the First Anglo- Burmese War. Disembark to visit the Monastery of Maha Bandula and a home cheroot-making workshop. Later, cruise to Zalon. Set off on a tour, taking in the town's colonial-style houses and gardens. Visit the Pyi Taw Pyan Pagoda, which houses a famous bronze Buddha that was once stolen by the British Army and later returned by order of Queen Victoria. BLD Day 4. Myanaung. Cruise to the sleepy township of Myanaung. Here, a guided walking tour will take you past a range of well-preserved colonial houses and on to the bustling local market. BLD Day 5. Pyay (Prome), Sri Ksetra. Today take in views of the Akauk Mountains and their cliff carvings as you cruise towards Pyay, where you'll disembark for a tour. Established by the British Irrawaddy Flotilla Company, the town originally served as a cargo transit point between Upper and Lower Burma. See a selection of gilded pagodas, including the Shwesandaw Pagoda, then travel to the ancient ruins at the old Pyu kingdom capital, Sri Ksetra. BLD Day 6. Thayetmyo. Cruise to Thayetmyo, a pleasant port town that once sat on the British colonial border between Upper Burma and Lower Burma. Here, step out to wander the streets, take in the colonial houses and visit Burma's oldest golf course, established by the British in 1887.
