LATEST AND GREATEST ON DISPLAY T he New Zealand Marine Industry Organisation says this year's Auckland International Boat Show will be the biggest ever, with over 200 boats on display and four pavilions of exhibits. The show is being held at the new Viaduct Events Centre on Auckland's waterfront, and the dates have been changed to September 15 to 18 to coincide with the Rugby World Cup. Visitors will be able to look at commercial and recreational trailer boats, yachts, launches and motoryachts up to 30m in length, along with a huge range of the latest engines, electronics, marine equipment and chandlery. The new electronics include the latest chartplotters, fishfinders and combination units, such as Simrad's touch-screen NSS Sport series and the GME G-Series. TransDiesel Ltd's display will range from small gensets and auxiliary engines through to Perkins and MTU. TransDiesel also distribute Mahle NFV fuel treatment systems, Kohler Marine generators and Konrad, which will release its new 600 Series sterndrives. Lees Marine will be at the show with products from FPT Iveco (Fiat PowerTrain Technologies), Doosan and FNM. This product line means Lees Group says it can deliver marine drive solutions ranging from 15kW to 900kW. They can also supply generators, industrial engines, pumping engines and solar polar. Hella Marine will show off the latest highly efficient LED interior and exterior lighting and downlights, plus new lightweight and durable Multivolt LED task lamps. Anglers will also have plenty to look at Stelth Lures, which specialises in deep-sea fishing lures, will have hundreds of lures available, including 15 stock head types, more than 30 tail skirts and a full range of stainless steel hooks. Their stand will include demonstrations of rigging and putting skirts on lures. Professional Skipper's editor Keith Ingram and his team will be available on their stand to meet industry participants for a catch-up and to discuss the advocacy work carried out by the magazine. Its sister publications, New Zealand Workboat Review and New Zealand Aquaculture, promote the New Zealand marine and aquaculture industries, and there will be heaps of back issues to give away. The Sail-World.com website's stand will be available for visitors to catch up on the latest local and global marine news from its free network of sites, and a large television screen will play international yacht racing footage, along with interviews with some sailing celebrities on the stand. The show will be open from 1000 to 1800 every day. An adult day pass will cost $20, while the four-day pass will cost $30. For the first time, tickets will be available on-line, from June 15, on the boat show website, www.aucklandinternationalboatshow.com The dates of the show overlap with several other major maritime events, including the Superyacht Captains' Forum on September 15-16, the International Boat Building Competition on September 17 and the New Zealand Marine National Yard Tours, which will take place during September and October.
