The ship departed Lyttelton shortly after 0630 on February 27 and made best speed for Wellington, arriving alongside Aotea Quay at 1800.

some resemblance of order restored, the Navy and her ships were stood down to return to active service wherever the nation required them. While the contents of this article, taken from the commanding
officer's log, might read a bit like a report, it highlights the ability of our Navy to respond to emergencies and disasters in an efficient manner and demonstrates the value the people of New Zealand are getting from our Protector fleet, and the men and women who serve us.
