Real Estate Services • Issue 3 1 WELCOME In 2014 the outlook for property across Australia appears decidedly positive as forecasters predict that persistent low interest rates will continue to inspire strong investor activity. This edition of Industry Focus: Real Estate Services takes its inspiration from around the country. First up we speak with Steve Devine, CEO of Devine Real Estate in Sydney, about his business' successful expansion during some of the toughest years in real estate. It's all about taking advantage of both the ups and downs of the industry, he says. Speaking of expansions, in 2013 Ray White Queensland opened a new arm to the business called Living Here. CEO Peter Camphin tells us about the business concept and how it will thrive in 2014, growing the Ray White brand and benefiting loyal frachisees and vendors. In Victoria, property values are expected to grow in 2014, though more in line with inflationary expectations. Enzo Raimondo, CEO of the Real Estate Institute of Victoria, and Campbell Cooney, Director and Auctioneer at Hodges, share their outlook. Lastly, we chat with Tim McKibbin, CEO of the Real Estate Institute of New South Wales, who shares his thoughts on what his organisation is hoping to achieve this year. You can also read the latest real estate news and an analysis of the Australian dollar and interest rates by Westpac Senior Economist Matthew Hassan and Senior International Economist Huw McKay.
