GETTING AROUND One of the most popular ways to explore and appreciate the richness of Europe is by car or rail. While many prefer the freedom and flexibility of a rental car, thanks to vast improvements in Europe's rail system, traveling by train is another wonderful option. If you prefer a self-driven tour, we can help you keep it adventurous and affordable. With this option, you can drive on some of the most famous roads in the world, such as Germany's Autobahn, or take a selfguided scenic tour of the beautiful roads through the French Riviera. For those of you who want to get to your destination at speeds exceeding 200 miles per hour, you can hop on one of Europe's relaxing and sleek high-speed trains. This exciting option also allows you to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the countryside without having to navigate unfamiliar roads. You can take the Eurostar below the English Channel to France or Belgium, or travel throughout Europe with the Eurail Flexipass. You are able to choose from single country passes, multi-country passes or individual point-to-point tickets. Of course, a great way to sample the best of both worlds is by combining driving with rail. You can take a train to your destination, then rent a car and drive to explore the area at your own pace. Your American Express travel counselor will be happy to arrange your ground transportation needs prior to your departure; please consult him or her for more information on these and other options, to create your ideal experience.
