After a short drive you'll arrive at the Aravah Border Pass, where you will cross through to Jordan. Upon arriving in Petra, enjoy an afternoon lunch. Here you will experience Petra, often described as the eighth wonder of the ancient world. It is a vast, unique city, carved into the sheer rock face by the Nabataeans. You will be in awe of its natural beauty and outstanding architectural achievements. Entrance to the city is through the Siq, a narrow gorge which is flanked on either side by soaring, high cliffs. A horseback ride through the Siq is included. The Treasury is just the first of the many wonders that make up Petra. There are hundreds of elaborate rock-cut tombs with intricate carvings. Here you will also view the massive Nabataean-built, Roman-style theater. Late in the evening, return to your hotel for the night. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and a hat to protect you from the sun, and always carry plenty of drinking water.
