Wineries and Breweries SEnSATiOnAL CELLARS With over 150 fantastic wineries and cellar doors to explore, you will quickly realise that life is too short to drink ordinary wine and not long enough to taste all of the incredible wines of the Margaret River region! There's no better place to start your journey of discovery through the wine appellation than at the Wine Tourism Showroom located at the Margaret River Visitor Centre. It features bottle and glass displays, regular wine tastings, sensory displays and wine making paraphernalia. The centre is fun as well as educational, and worth a stop before you set off to discover the local wineries and vineyards. In the Margaret River region you can enjoy a seemingly endless variety of wine experiences. Jump aboard a wine tour, take a behind the scenes journey though the vines and production floor, meet a winemaker, try your hand at wine blending, join a food and wine matching class or indulge in a decadent degustation dinner. Margaret River wine has a reputation for its distinguished character and quality. The possibilities for indulgence are astounding with wineries dotted throughout the countryside, ranging from small family operations where the winemaker will greet you at the cellar door, to large scale establishments complete with restaurants, gift shops, art galleries, events and entertainment. BREWERiES & diSTiLLERiES Although traditionally known for its exceptional wines, the region has recently welcomed the emergence of a close-knit and creative boutique brewery fraternity. There are a number of breweries to explore each with distinctive styles; from the more traditional pale ales and pilsners to preservative and additive free brews. For something a little different you can sample more adventurous creations like chilli or chocolate beer. It's easy to while away an afternoon at one of the breweries especially since many have regular live music and events as well as providing delicious meals or snacks. An escape in Margaret River wouldn't be the same without a visit to one of the breweries in between many cellar door tastings - a cleansing ale is the perfect way to quench any thirst. In keeping with the beverage styles of the region a distillery has also been opened to accompany the stronger ports and liqueurs and capture the palates of those looking for something a little different.
